International Festival of Advent and Christmas Songs
The winter instalment of the festival series: a competition for amateur choirs and ensembles, a laureates’ concert and carol singing together in Cieszyn.
The Festival of Advent and Christmas Songs cultivates singing traditions, popularises Advent and Christmas choral repertoire and promotes contemporary music. It is organised by the University of Silesia in Katowice — Faculty of Arts and Educational Science, Institute of Music in Cieszyn — with the Music Without Borders Foundation as co-organiser.
For choirs and ensembles
The competition welcomes amateur mixed, equal-voice, children’s, youth and senior choirs, chamber choirs, vocal, vocal-instrumental and instrumental ensembles. Programmes focus on Advent songs, carols, pastorals and Christmas music.
Celebrating together
A Laureates’ Concert follows the auditions, and selected ensembles may also perform around Cieszyn. Singing a carol arranged by Józef Świder together is an important part of the event.
Dates, regulations and the active application form are available in the Competitions section.
