Prof. Józef Świder International Festival of Music

A recurring celebration of choral music, the heritage of Silesian composers and dialogue between generations, co-organised with the University of Silesia in Cieszyn.

The spring edition of the Prof. Józef Świder Festival combines an international choral competition, concerts, educational and academic events, and music throughout Cieszyn. The Music Without Borders Foundation co-organises the event with the University of Silesia in Katowice, its Faculty of Arts and Educational Science and the Institute of Music in Cieszyn.

A festival open to the city

Successive editions include competition performances, a gala concert, events devoted to Silesian composers and performances at important locations around Cieszyn. Choirs from Poland and abroad are invited to share experience with singers, conductors and audiences.

The festival’s patron

Professor Józef Świder was an outstanding composer and teacher closely connected with Silesia and Cieszyn. The festival recalls his work while promoting contemporary choral music.

Information about the current edition and applications is published in the Competitions section.
