Four concerts in Slovakia: choir and orchestra festival in Košice

From a concert for children, through a candlelight concert in a library, to singing in the Botanical Garden accompanied by birdsong.

Ad libitum at the festival in Košice

On 2–4 July 2021 the Ad libitum ensemble took part in the International Festival of Choirs and Orchestras in Košice, Slovakia. Four concerts in different places — from Smokovec in the Tatra Mountains to the Botanical Garden in Košice.

The opening concert on the first day was for children from the Summer Academy of Little Musicians. The young audience listened with interest and even sang along with Ad libitum.

In the evening — the festival’s traditional candlelight concert. It was raining five minutes before the start, but the audience did not disappoint. The rain stopped just in time, and the acoustics were wonderful.

Next came the conference hall of the beautifully located Hotel Bellevue in Smokovec, and finally a concert in the Botanical Garden. The ocarina and shepherd’s bells in dialogue with voices and birdsong — unforgettable.

We thank the festival director, Igor Dohovič, for the invitation.
